
SEA-ME-WE5 Undersea Cable Repaired, Restoring Internet Services to Normal and Can Get Mobile Data Benefit
(Yangon, June 28, 2024)– Following the failure of the SEA-ME-WE5 undersea cable on April 20th, which resulted in reduced data speeds for Mobile and FTTH-related internet services, MPT has taken immediate action to restore normal service. We are now pleased to announce that as of today, mobile and FTTH internet speeds have returned to normal.
To address the impact of the disruption, MPT has been actively expanding and connecting new lines continuously to ensure a comprehensive recovery. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience caused during this period and appreciate our customers’ patience and understanding.
To make up for the affected mobile customers, we offer Data benefit and please dial *2006*5# to receive such benefit which will be reflected in your service from 29th June to 7th July with SMS will be sent to customers in details on how to receive these benefits. Additionally, MPT already provided discounts to FTTH customers affected by the SEA-ME-WE5 undersea cable in June and further discounts will be announced in July.
